Aloha LYC ʻOhana,

I hope this message finds you and your Ohana doing well and enjoying the beauty of Spring! As we reach our halfway point in 2025, I wanted to give some updates on our progress and share information on upcoming LYC events.

At the top of everyone's mind is our Clubhouse Rebuild. Please rest assured that the Rebuild Committee remains dedicated and vigilant; actively tracking legislation, staying closely connected with Front Street Recovery, and identifying potential grant opportunities. While progress, especially makai side, may feel gradual, our commitment to seeing it through has never wavered.

We are also keeping a close eye on our investments and reinvestments to ensure we are prepared for every opportunity that arises. Our legal team continues to be in regular contact as developments unfold regarding the lawsuit.

On a brighter note, we recently celebrated our 60th Anniversary — and what an incredible celebration it was! The turnout was beyond what we expected, and it was heartwarming to see so many of our Members gathered once again, sharing laughter and aloha by the ocean.

Looking ahead, we have a full calendar of events that we hope to see you at: Opening Day, Labor Day Races, the LYC Annual Golf Tournament, Keiki Fishing, and our Christmas Celebration — with a few surprise events in the works as well!

We are also proud of our successful whale watch fundraiser series this season. Four trips brought joy and purpose — two benefited the Maui Community Sailing Foundtion (MCSF) for our Junior Sailing Programs, one supported the Lahaina Maritime Foundation’s scholarship efforts, and one contributed to the LYC Scholarship Fund for local students. The following two Lahainaluna students were awarded scholarships from LYC: Afnan Oleiwan & Dane Markulis.

Although operating without a Clubhouse continues to present challenges, we remain dedicated to upholding our mission — providing opportunities for connection, education, and recreation. We are committed to keeping the LYC spirit alive and thriving, and as always, having a little fun along the way!

Mahalo,

Linda Rickabaugh
